Giuliani Seriously Injured in Accident – Trump to Award Him the Presidential Medal of Freedom

Former New York mayor and Trump ally Rudy Giuliani is recovering from a severe car accident; President Donald Trump announces he will grant him the nation’s highest civilian honor
Yesterday it was reported that Rudy Giuliani, a close associate of Donald Trump and his former lawyer, is recovering from a serious accident.

This evening, the President announced that he will award Giuliani the highest civilian decoration in America: the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Trump described him as “the greatest mayor in the history of New York.”

Giuliani, who represented Trump in lawsuits contesting the 2020 election results, was convicted earlier this year of contempt of court.

Nevertheless, President Trump emphasized Giuliani’s legacy, stating: “As President of the United States, I am pleased to announce that Rudy Giuliani, the greatest mayor in the history of New York, and an equally great American patriot, will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom – the highest civilian honor of our nation.

Further details regarding time and location will follow.”

Michael Ragusa, spokesperson for the 81-year-old Giuliani, said he is “recovering and in good spirits” and expected to be released from the hospital in the coming days.

According to Ragusa, the accident occurred Saturday evening on a highway near Manchester, New Hampshire, while Giuliani was driving a rental car.

He was hospitalized with a fractured vertebra, multiple bruises and cuts, and injuries to his hand and leg.

Ragusa explained that the crash happened after Giuliani stopped to assist a woman who was a victim of domestic violence.

“Before the accident she signaled him to stop, he helped her and called 911, and remained at the scene until police arrived.

The accident happened when he returned to his vehicle and was struck from behind by a speeding car.” The spokesperson stressed that this was a traffic accident and not a “deliberate attack” against Giuliani.

Giuliani, a Republican, served as mayor of New York during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, a period in which he was known as “America’s Mayor.” He later represented Trump in legal challenges following the 2020 election, which ended in Joe Biden’s victory.

Trump and his allies filed dozens of lawsuits alleging fraud and demanding recounts, all of which were unsuccessful.

In early 2025 Giuliani was found guilty of contempt of court for failing to transfer assets worth 11 million dollars to two Georgia election workers who had won a defamation case against him.
