The location technology firm TomTom has formed a strategic alliance with leading European car manufacturers to deploy a fully sovereign, highly detailed mapping architecture for autonomous driving. The collaborative technology initiative is designed to explicitly break the European automotive industry's heavy reliance on American mapping monopolies.
