Amsterdam Introduces Permit Requirement for Mid-Range Rentals
New policy aims to reserve housing for middle-income residents
Starting July 1, Amsterdam will require tenants of mid-range rental properties to obtain a permit, ensuring that these homes are allocated to middle-income earners.
The policy sets income caps at €81,633 for individuals and €89,821 for families, aiming to make housing more accessible to those within these brackets.
This measure is part of the city's broader effort to address housing affordability and prevent higher-income individuals from occupying residences intended for middle-income households.
